Commission Wants Mandatory Inspections For Care Homes

A Commission reviewing long-term care in the province is releasing another set of interim recommendations.

They include hiring more inspectors, reinstating mandatory comprehensive inspections and improving coordination of inspections by different ministries and public health.

The Long-Term Care Commission also recommends homes have infection prevention and control experts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Commission released an initial set of recommendations in October that included the need to hire more personal support workers and increase the level of care for patients.
