Rainy River DSSAB Seeks Rezoning Of School Property

Fort Frances town council is to hear at a request to rezone the former St. Michael’s School property.

The Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board is in negotiations to buy the former school and playground from the Northwest Catholic District School Board.

The deal is expected to close at the end of May.

The DSSAB proposes converting the school building into seniors apartments and space for its EarlyOn Learning program.

It’s also proposing up to five eight-unit apartment buildings on what was the school playground.

A public meeting on the rezoning request takes place as part of tonight’s town council virtual meeting which begins at 5:30 p.m.
