More Snow Expected

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Kenora, Grassy Narrows, Sioux Narrows, Nestor Falls and Fort Frances areas.

As much as 10 centimetres of snow could fall in the next 24 hours.

Peter Kimbell is a meteorologist and says it’s part of the same weather system that hammering southern Manitoba right now.

“There are blizzard warnings in parts of the prairies, even right now, particularly in Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan,” explains Kimbell.

“Don’t think that’s going to be coming the same way to northwestern Ontario. It will get colder…there will be some wind, but not to the same extent that we’re seeing on the prairies right now.”

Earlier today, Highway 1 west of the Ontario border in Manitoba was closed for several hours due to freezing rain.
