Unvaccinated Urged To Get Their Shot Now

Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is urging those who haven’t been vaccinated against COVID-19 to do so now.

There are still more than 2.5 million eligible residents in Ontario who have not yet to be immunized against COVID-19.

Dr. Kieran Moore says another surge in cases is projected in September as school opens.

“Any potential surge cases in Ontario will most likely be in those that are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. We have time to avoid that reality,” says Dr. Moore.

Dr. Moore says the goal is to reach 80 per cent of the public being partially vaccinated and 70 per cent fully vaccinated before any further easing of restrictions can take place.

“To those who have yet to receive the vaccine or their second dose, now is the time to step up and get the shot so that you can build your immunity before public health measures are further loosened,” says Dr. Moore.

Dr. Moore says unvaccinated still pose a risk because we haven’t built enough community immunity against the virus to avoid another breakout of infections.
