Two New COVID Cases Sunday

Fifty-seven cases, seven hospitalizations and zero outbreaks.

That’s the current overview of the COVID – 19 situation across the Northwestern Health Unit’s catchment area coming out of the Easter long weekend.

The latest report identifies two new cases, both in the Kenora Health Hub.

One of those cases includes an elementary school student who tested positive for a variant of concern.
The regional health unit’s test positivity rate to date sits at 0.85 per cent, with over 82 thousand tests administered.

Public health officials recommend that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face.

Anyone who has symptoms or has been in contact with a positive case should self-isolate and get tested.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit hasn’t released Sunday’s numbers, and the province doesn’t issue updates on holidays.

Minnesota did not report COVID numbers yesterday either because of the Easter holiday.

Saturday, it noted two new cases and three probable ones in Koochiching County.

As many 65 cases are active.

Four cases were identified in Lake of the Woods County where at least eight cases were active as of last Thursday.
