Two Active Cases Of COVID-19 In Rainy River District

There were no new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Northwestern Health Unit area on Sunday.

There are still 12 active cases.

Two are in the Rainy River District.

The exact locations are no longer disclosed by the Health Unit.

More than 71 per cent of eligible residents have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Almost 35 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Fort Frances has almost 76 per cent partially vaccinated and 40 per cent fully vaccinated.

Atikokan is over 76 per cent partially vaccinated and 37 per cent fully vaccinated.

Emo is at 69 per cent partially and 39 per cent fully vaccinated.

In Minnesota’s Koochiching County, there has been another death related to COVID-19.

The Minnesota Department of Health says the person was between the age of 70 and 74.

It is the county’s 18th death since the start of the pandemic and among the nine reported across the state on Sunday.

There were also 127 new cases in Minnesota.

Meantime, almost six thousand residents in Koochiching County have started or complete vaccination programs.

That’s 54 per cent of those 12 and up.

It jumps to 56 per cent 16 and up.

Minnesota is at 64 per cent of those 12 and up starting or completing vaccination programs.

Governor Tim Walz had said he wanted to see at least 70 per cent by July 4.
