Turtle Portage Marine Railway Getting an Update

The province is providing some funding for the Turtle Portage Marine Railway.

A total of $800 thousand comes from the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry.

The funding includes repairs to the marine railway system and some upgrades.

The marine railway provides a shortcut between Sabaskong and Whitefish Bay on Lake of the Woods.

The province says off-site construction has already begun.

Work at the actual site will begin this spring.

The province was looking at dismantling the portage four years ago because of a lack of money to fix it up.
