Stuff-a-Cruiser ready to go Saturday

The annual Stuff-a-Cruiser campaign returns to the parts of the Rainy River District this weekend.

The food drive for area food banks takes place on Saturday in Rainy River, Emo, and Fort Frances.

Salvation Army volunteer Jill Pernsky says it has become an important fundraiser for area organizations.

“Before Christmas, our shelves are getting bare. So, the Stuff-A-Cruiser is a main refilling of all the stock we don’t have anymore,” says Pernsky.

Volunteers and service personnel representing the Ontario Provincial Police, Treaty 3 Police, CN Police, Canada Border Services, and District of Rainy River Services Board’s Paramedic Services, among others, will be at Walmart, The Place and Safeway in Fort Frances, Cloverleaf Grocery in Emo, and Beaver Mills Market in Rainy River to collect donations of non-perishable items.

Pernsky notes all of the items will go to the food banks in the community where they are collected.

“Every year, I am amazed at the generosity of the people in the Rainy River District. They just seem to give, give, give. It actually brings tears to my eyes sometimes.”

The event Saturday goes from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
