Splash Park Committee to Review Budget

A glimpse of what the proposed splash park for Fort Frances may look like.

Conceptual drawings show a heart shape design with a mermaid and fishing theme.

The projected budget is pegged at over $665 thousand.

About $240 thousand is related to materials and installation.

Another $303 thousand is identified for amenities like park equipment, shade and benches.

There is also $40 thousand for a new washroom and pump house, $30 thousand for sewer, water and electrical services and $30 thousand for a walkway.

Potential funding includes a grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund and donations.

A $100 thousand commitment has been pledged by Farm Boy Realty.

The committee reviewing the project will discuss the numbers at a meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

It has recommended the splash park be constructed at Legion Park.
