Some COVID restrictions still in place at Rainycrest

Restrictions in some parts of Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances because of COVID are being lifted.

Riverside Health Care and the Northwestern Public Health Unit say outbreaks that occurred in the East Wing and Special Care Unit earlier this month are now over.

Restrictions imposed on visitors and residents in those areas are being removed.

However, the home is still dealing with an outbreak in the West Wing.

That is keeping visitor restrictions and masking requirements in that part of the home in place.

That means visiting only one resident per visit, wearing N95 masks and wearing additional PPE when visiting residents in isolation.

There are also restrictions on admissions, transfers, discharges, and large group social activities for West unit residents.

Riverside states an Outbreak Management Team continues to monitor the situation.

The outbreaks were first declared on May 1.
