Some Ballots Coming Back Incorrect

The township of Alberton is trying to head off the potential of spoiled ballots showing up on election day.

The township says it has already received six secrecy envelopes that were part of the voting packages sent to voters to vote by mail.

However, those envelopes were supposed to be inside a Reply Envelope with the Voter Declaration Form.

Without that form, the ballot becomes rejected.

Township officials say new ballots will be issued to those who think they sent their ballots back without that form.

The township faced a similar situation in 2018 when nine ballots were rejected for the same reason.

The race of reeve was decided by four votes.

The same two candidates, Mike Ford and Mike Hammond are running again.

It is the only race in Alberton, with the rest of council being acclaimed.
