Smoke Continues To Reduce Visibility, Impact Air Quality

A special air quality statement continues today for the entire northwest region due to ongoing forest fires.

The smoke is impacting much of the region and into northern Minnesota.

Poor air quality and, at times, low visibility, is expected for areas closer to the fires.

According to 511 Northwestern Ontario, visibility is reduced on Highway 105 north of Ear Falls and in the Red Lake area.

Smoke is coming from the active fires in the northwest as well as eastern Manitoba.

It’s expected to continue to impact air quality at least into Thursday.

Those most at risk are children, seniors and those with cardiovascular or lung disease such as asthma.

Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.
