SIU investigates stolen vehicle incident in Rainy River District

A stolen vehicle incident in the west end of the Rainy River District has the attention of the province’s Special Investigation Unit.

A passenger suffered serious injuries after the vehicle went into the ditch late Sunday evening on Highway 11.

Provincial Police report that they had deployed a spike belt before the collision in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The passenger and driver were taken into custody and transported to hospital for treatment.

The SIU is investigating to determine if there was any wrongdoing by the officers involved.
