Several New Fires in District

The forest fire situation in the Rainy River District is picking up.

There were fourteen new starts in this area.

Most remain small in size but classified as still burning.

Several of them are located in areas to the north of Atikokan.

As of last night, over 150 fires are active in the entire northwest.

More than 60 are considered not under control.
