Semi Sideswipes OPP Cruiser, Heads Eastbound

Officers with the Kenora OPP are searching for the driver of a tractor-trailer unit that hit an OPP cruiser earlier this month, before driving away from the scene.

A media release says on Sunday, January 15 – officers were on the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17A near Caribou Lake conducting traffic control.

Then, at 8:45 a.m., the officer on scene observed two semi’s approaching – one of which struck his stationary, unoccupied police cruiser before driving away.

The OPP say their vehicle saw significant damage and police are looking for any information regarding a black tractor trailer unit with a gold freight trailer.

The truck was later seen on video passing Clearwater Bay at 8:49 a.m., headed Eastbound.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Kenora OPP or Crime Stoppers.
