Search underway to find buyer for Sunny Cove Camp

The for-sale sign is officially up at Sunny Cove Camp.

The town of Fort Frances is now accepting offers on the 36-acre site.

A committee was set up last December to oversee the sale after council decided not to proceed with improvements to the camp’s main building, Russell Hall, because of cost.

A communique from the town indicates offers will be accepted until June 15th.

Any bid will be entertained; the preference is to find someone who will continue to operate Sunny Cove as a youth camp, if possible.

The site includes 10 buildings, though the town has admitted some need for repair.

The Kiwanis Club of Fort Frances handed over the camp to the town after running it for several decades.

The town last operated it in 2019, but shuttered the camp during the COVID pandemic and never reopened the facility.

No dollar figure as to what the property may be worth has been publicly revealed.
