School Projects Delayed

The completion of a couple of school improvement projects in Fort Frances has hit a snag.

The Northwest Catholic District School Board has Daryl’s Landscaping doing some drainage and installing new walking trails near St. Mary School.

Superintendent of Finance Laura Mills says the project is being held up supply chain issues.

“The Walking trails were originally planned to be paved, and to reduce costs, we moved it crushed stone or gravel. Now we’re being held up by the plant that crushes the gravel,” says Mills.

It is a similar situation with an expanded parking lot at the school.

George Armstrong Company is doing that work to create more space.

“There was a need for additional 35 additional parking spaces. It’s not quite finished. It is created but not paved. We are now delayed a little bit in getting it paved,” says Mills.

The board hopes both projects will be complete in the near future.
