Riverside Confirms Two COVID Cases At Its Facilities

Riverside Health Care is reporting two cases of COVID-19 within its facilities.

One is identified as an employee at LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances. The other is a resident at Rainycrest Long Term Care.

The Northwestern Health Unit had previously identified an outbreak at Rainycrest with a single case reported at the beginning of the month.

Visits restrictions at the home remain in place with only palliative visits permitted.

Riverside says it’s taken additional measures at the hospital for staff that may have had more extended contact with the employee diagnosed with the virus. Riverside says they are necessary so clinical programs and services, including emergency, inpatient care, surgeries, diagnostic testing and outpatient services can continue.

Screening protocols continue for anyone entering any of Riverside’s hospitals, including staff.

“We understand that the screening process, mandatory masking and restrictions on visitors in our facilities can be difficult; however, these practices are in place for the safety of all,” says a release from Riverside.
