The Rainy Lake Medical Center in International Falls is temporarily suspending urgent care services.
It is because of limited hospital space and strains on the healthcare system elsewhere caused by the pandemic.
Officials say the hospital doesn’t have an intensive care unit but is seeing patients needing that care.
Bed and staffing shortages elsewhere are hindering the ability to transfer patients to other hospitals.
Officials are still encouraging people to visit the emergency room for emergency reasons while directing others to their clinic for less serious matters.
