One Fort Frances town council member has questions about the state of the CN mainline in the Rainy River area.
Doug Judson says last week’s train derailment in Emo is the latest in a series of accidents.
He says people are asking him why there so many derailments within this same 40-kilometre chunk of track between Fort Frances and Chapple.
Judson says blame doesn’t need to be cast, but local politicians have to ensure residents are protected.
At least 30 cars from a CN freight train derailed a week ago and several leaked crude oil. Despite the leak, no oil has entered the Rainy River.
The federal Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause.
