Province Reports Over 2,000 COVID-19 Cases

COVID-19 infections are gradually declining across the province, with 2,063 more confirmed this morning.

The seven-day average count of new cases has been heading downward since January 11th, when it reached 3,555.

Ontario is also seeing a spike of 73 more COVID-19-related deaths.

Another 14 people have been infected with COVID-19 in the Thunder Bay District.

That includes five new cases in the outbreak at the Thunder Bay District Jail, and two more infections at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.

Three caught the virus through close contact, one travelled outside Northwestern Ontario, and another three cases are still under investigation.

However, we are seeing a drop in active cases, as the Thunder Bay District Health Unit announces 54 people are no longer testing positive. That brings the active case count to 145.

This story will be updated with the new cases from the Northwestern Health Unit when those figures are announced.
