Postal Workers Union Reaches Understanding With Canada Post

The union representing Canada Post workers says its signed two memorandums of agreement with Canada Post as arbitration continues toward new contracts for workers.

The Canadian Union Of Postal Workers says the memoranduns allow for issues agreed upon during contract talks last winter to take effect prior to contracts being finalized.

This includes the elimination of a six month waiting period for dental benefits for new employees in rural areas and up to five years of medical leave without pay.

A federal arbitrator is not expected to complete her work on contracts until later this year.
