Police stop vehicle trying to evade R.I.D.E. check.

Two people face drug trafficking charges after a vehicle tried to go around a RIDE check near Atikokan.

The incident happened on Highway 11 Wednesday evening at around 9 o’clock.

Police did manage to stop the vehicle, later finding a small amount of drugs inside.

A 68-year-old man from Fort Frances and a 47-year-old woman from Seine River were arrested.

The 68-year-old charges also charged with three counts of failing to comply with a previous court release order and driving with cannabis readily available.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Fort Frances today.

The 47-year-old was later released and will be in court at the end of April.
