OPP officer wins gold at World games

Some success for area police officers at the World Police and Firefighter Games in Winnipeg.

Acting Sergeant Haley Collinson of the OPP’s Pickle Lake detachment took gold in the half-marathon, 18 to 29 age division.

She was the eleventh fastest among all women.

A team representing the Thunder Bay Police Service finished fourth in softball, losing 19-9 in the bronze medal game to a Winnipeg squad.

The team went 2-3 in round robin play to make the playoff round.

A loss to Colorado in the semi-finals brought Thunder Bay to the bronze medal game.
