OPP issue advisory about gambling rules

Online talk about some residents in Fort Frances promoting games of chance and sports betting events has caught the eye of the OPP.

They have issued a reminder that all forms of gambling in Ontario are governed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

OPP say they want to encourage compliance with the rules and regulations and remind the public of the need for lottery licenses when it comes to such things as 50/50 draws, sports betting and raffles.

Some residents are prompting various raffles to raise money for such things as travel to sporting events and medical expenses.

The Commission says only charitable or religious organizations can obtain a raffle license, not individuals.
