OPP investigating overdose death

Fort Frances is dealing with another rash of overdose deaths.

The latest was a 42-year-old after emergency personnel responded to a call in the 1000 block of York Avenue North early Thursday morning.

Provincial Police say it is the third suspected overdose death in the community in the last thirty days.

The OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Rainy River District Detachment OPP Crime Unit, the Office of the Chief Coroner, OPP Northwest Region Forensic Identification Services, and the OPP Northwest Regional Support Team are all involved in the investigation.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding this or any other overdose death is encouraged to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
