OPP Investigate Alleged Park Assault

OPP are releasing a few details now as to why Point Park in Fort Frances was closed to the public yesterday.

They say it relates to an investigation into a possible assault.

Police were called to the park at around 12:30 p.m. yesterday.

An area was cordoned off while officers conducted their probe.

Yellow police tape was seen near a maintenance garage, and the roads leading into the park were blocked off.

Members of the Northwest Emergency Response Team were also involved.

The investigation is still ongoing, but police don’t believe there is any further threat to public safety at this time.

Areas for campers and tenting only recently opened at the park after the area was shut down several weeks due to flooding.
