Ontario colleges avoid strike, classes to continue as scheduled

Ontario colleges have successfully negotiated an agreement to prevent a strike.

Classes will continue to run as scheduled for students.

The College Employer Council (CEC) and the union have reached a deal at the bargaining table.

CEC said the agreement includes enhanced benefits for academic staff and part-time employees.

It also includes several other breakthrough proposals from the CEC.

“We are pleased to have averted an unnecessary strike at Ontario’s 24 public colleges,” CEO of CEC, Graham Lloyd said.

The council focused on preventing a strike to allow students a smooth start to their semester.
