NWHU Reports Seven New Cases

Seven new cases of COVID-19 are being reported Tuesday morning by the Northwestern Health Unit.

They tell us that six come from the Sioux Lookout health hub and the other from the Dryden area.

The regional health authority says there are now 53 active cases in the region, up from the 51 reported on Monday.

The Sioux Lookout region continues to lead the way with 32 active cases, while the Kenora health hub is the only other area with a double-digit case count (16 active cases).

Only three other health hubs have active cases; Fort Frances (three), Emo (one) and Dryden (one).

The total number of cases since the pandemic began now sits at 1,011 with 958, or around 95 per-cent, now resolved.

33,349 doses of vaccine have been administered to date, with more people becoming eligible for their first dose this week.

To the east, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit says they have no new cases to report on Tuesday and a total active case count of 29.
