Think Alice Cooper when approaching a state snowplow in the International Falls area this month.
No More, Mr. Ice Guy, a take on Cooper’s hit song No More, Mr. Nice Guy, is one of eight names the Minnesota Transportation Department will use on its snowplows.
The name comes following a public contest to name eight plows, one of each transportation district.
Nearly 22-thousand names were submitted and whittled down to fifty finalists.
This was the second straight year mnDOT ran naming contest.
No More, Mr. Ice Guy will work highways in northeastern Minnesota, which covers the area from the Duluth area to the Canada/U.S. border.
Betty White’s link to Minnesota likely contributed to another state plow being named Betty Whiteout.
The name garnered the most vote, over 40 thousand.
That plow will work in the state’s southwest district.
Blizzard of Oz, a take on the classic film The Wizard of Oz, or even the album of the same name from Ozzy Obourne.
It will handle highways in northwestern Minnesota.
Here are all winning submissions in order of votes earned and where they will work.
- Betty Whiteout – District 8
- Ctrl Salt Delete – District 7
- The Big Leplowski – District 4
- Plowasaurus Rex – Metro District
- Scoop Dogg – District 3
- Blizzard of Oz – District 2
- No More Mr. Ice Guy – District 1
- Edward Blizzardhands – District 6
The plows and their new names are scheduled to be on the road later this month.
