No immediate changes to Fort Frances town flag

Fort Frances is making no changes to its town flag.

Town Council has agreed to wait until administration completes a branding strategy.

Councillor Mike Behan, who supported a change, is okay with keeping the current flag for now.

“Given that we are going to do a branding exercise. Given that we don’t have a budget for it this year. Given that we’re looking at doing it first quarter of 2026, I would be good with maintaining the recommendation that we keep the Phoenix Eagle flag,” says Behan.

“I’m certainly open to redesigning the flag longer term when we get the branding done.”

Behan did suggest changing the flag’s colours from black and green to blue and green, used in a previous one.

Councillor Wendy Brunetta felt it was best to wait before making any changes.

“I think until we go through the whole exercise, I don’t think we should be making any major changes to how things are right now,” says Brunetta.

“There’s no sense in making a change just to make a change again after the whole process is done.”

Councillor John McTaggart, who started the flag discussion, repeated his desire to revert to the old flag that was replaced by the current one.

“I’m going to go back to my original appeal and that we revert to this flag while we decide where we’re going,” says McTaggart.

Administration is expected to complete its branding exercise early next year.
