New Outbreak At Northwestern Ontario Mine

Two people associated with the Lac des Iles Mine north of Thunder Bay have tested positive for COVID-19.

The company says both individuals have been off-site for about a week and are self-isolating and doing well.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has gotten in touch with anyone who worked closely with the two infected people, had them all tested and told to isolation for 14 days.

The mine was impacted by an outbreak early in the pandemic that affected some workers who live in Atikokan.
