New interim fire chief appoints in Fort Frances

A long-time member of the Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service steps into the role of interim Fire Chief.

Wayne Riches will handle the job for at least the next 12 months.

Town council made the appointment formal at their meeting Monday night.

He has been with the department for 25 years, most recently serving as Captain of Fire Prevention and Education.

The department has been without a full-time Fire Chief since the sudden departure of Tyler Moffitt in April 2023.

The town says it has no information if and when Moffitt may return.
