New Helipad Planned For LaVerendrye Hospital

A new helipad is planned for La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances.

The province is kicking in $100-thousand for the design and preparatory work.

Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford says it will help in the transfer of patients in a more timely manner.

“I felt strongly that should be an asset that the community has that many others have and they don’t have here. So, it’s a great, great day for Riverside Health,” says Rickford.

The helipad is expected to be in place in the next year or two. Some of the initial work will take place this summer.

Riverside Health Care is also receiving an extra $540-thousand to use towards the operating expenses of all its hospitals.
