The new detachment commander for the OPP in the Rainy River district is now on the job.
Inspector Shaun Crabbe took over duties earlier this month.
He replaces Nathan Schmidt who announced his retirement earlier this year.
Inspector Crabbe attended his first Police Services Board meeting on Friday.
He says it was the northwestern Ontario lifestyle that attracted him to the position.
“We knew what the lifestyle was like Northwestern Ontario. Hunting, fishing opportunities, those are things that we really thoroughly enjoy,” says Inspector Crabbe.
Crabbe is no stranger to northwestern Ontario.
He served as detachment commander in Red Lake, Pickle Lake and Kenora before taking on similar duties in northeastern Ontario.
