NDP Supporters Show Support For Provincial Leader

NDP faithful is giving leader Andrea Horwath a big thumbs up.

Over 85 per cent of delegates taking part in the provincial NDP virtual convention voted to keep Horwath as leader.

Horwath, in her address to delegates, says the upcoming election campaign is one they have been hoping for and working towards.

“This is our moment. This is our opportunity to start building the Ontario we have dreamt of. The Ontario we have marched for, organized for and fought for generation after generation for all these years,” says Howarth.

Howarth says an NDP government would bring in universal dental care and overall long term care by removing private ownership.

She also hinted at introducing a $20 minimum wage and paid sick days.

“And we will stand up for small local businesses, not big box stores, and we will take on the high cost of housing for families, not help big landlords and wealthy investors, and we will invest in healthcare and our kids instead of cutting.”

Horwath expressed confidence in the NDP forming the next government.

“Not in our lifetimes has there been so much need and so much support for the social-democratic solutions only New Democrats offer. Now is the time for a bold new democratic vision.”

She adds the candidates to run will be among the most diverse of any party. Some of the candidate selections are yet to come.
