The MP for Thunder Bay Superior North released a comment Friday reacting to the news this week that Thunder Bay Pulp and Paper will be shutting down its newsprint division.
Patty Hajdu calls it deeply concerning for the workers, their families and the Thunder Bay community.
She noted the Federal Government’s immediate concern is ensuring the workers impacted have the proper supports.

Thunder Bay Pulp and Paper CEO Norm Bush says newsprint demand has dropped by 40 percent in the last three years alone, and he expects demand to further drop by another double-digit percentage over the course of 2026.
The decision will impact 150 jobs at the Thunder Bay mill.
