No apologies from the MP for Thunder Bay-Rainy River.
Liberal Marcus Powlowski says internal emails he sent early in the pandemic were not meant to be critical of the government’s response to COVID-19, but rather observations.
“The party has been pretty good actually. I haven’t really been chastized by the party. I think they realized what happened, and hopefully, they, like I, know this is the job of a member of parliament to stand up for his constituents,” notes Powlowski.
The emails were made public by the government after the House of Commons passed a motion requiring all documents related to COVID-19 to be released.
They were then published by conservative-leaning news agencies.
One of the emails, according to the MP, involved concerns over the lack of ventilators in the country during the first wave of the virus.
