More New COVID Cases in the Rainy River District

The Northwestern Health Unit says there were 19 new cases of COVID-19 identified within its catchment area on Wednesday.

Six cases are in the Kenora area. There are three in both the Red Lake and Sioux Lookout Health Hubs with one in the Dryden area.

Six cases are scattered throughout the Rainy River District.

Two cases each are in the Fort Frances and Rainy River reporting areas with one in the Emo area and one in the Atikokan Health Hub.

The health unit lists one person in hospital with the virus.

There are outbreaks still being monitored at LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances and Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care in Kenora.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 128 new cases and one new admission to hospital.

Ontario now has over 3,400 in hospital, up over 200 from Tuesday’s numbers.

Of those, 46 per cent were admitted for other reasons, later to test positive for COVID-19.

In northern Minnesota, there are seven new cases in Koochiching County and three in Lake of the Woods County.
