Manitoba premier working to save Crown Royal in Ontario

The premier of Manitoba is asking the premier of Ontario to rethink his idea of taking Crown Royal of LCBO shelves.

Wab Kinew says Crown Royal is distilled in Gimli and is responsible for hundreds of jobs.

“Having a Team Canada approach can’t mean targeting jobs in another province,” Kinew told reporters in Gimli on Tuesday.

“So, I’m encouraging Premier Ford to change his mind.”

Kinew says Crown Royal is proudly distilled in Manitoba.

“Now, we know that he’s (premier Ford) got his issues with Diageo, but here in Manitoba were very, very proud of this very iconic Canadian brand.”

Ford is upset that the company Diageo is moving its bottle production plant to Alabama and closing its Ontario facility.
