Manitoba Hydro Receives Approval For Power Line Project

Conditional approval has been given to Manitoba Hydro for the construction of a transmission line that will connect with one now under construction in Minnesota.

The National Energy Board is allowing the 500 kilovolt line from a hydro station west of Winnipeg to Piney along the Manitoba-Minnesota border to proceed.

The approval does comes with 27 separate conditions that must be first met.

Originally, the line was supposed to be in place by 2020.

Minnesota Power has said it’s on target with it’s portion of the line, part of which is running through Koochiching County.
