Man charged after brief police chase

A brief police chase in Fort Frances has resulted in a 23-year-old man facing several charges.

OPP say it began last Sunday morning at around 1 a.m. when officers noticed a vehicle making several traffic infractions.

When the vehicle failed to stop for police, a short chase ensued before police ended it for safety reasons.

The vehicle and the driver were located.

He was arrested but later released and will visit to a courtroom in late June.

The driver faces the following Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act charges, including:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Fail to Stop for Police
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
  • Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop
  • Fail to Report Accident
  • Turn – Not in Safety
