The provincial government is being asked for an inquest into the death of a 17-year-old Indigenous youth.
The NDP’s Sol Mamakwa made the request at Queen’s Park, asking the Ford government to look into the suicide of Devon Freeman.
“An inquest that would shine a light on Devon’s life and death so this doesn’t happen to any more children,” states Mamakwa. “Will you support this request and actually take action on this inquest?”
The Kiwetinoong MPP says Freeman was in the care of Child and Family Services at the time of his death, but his body wasn’t found for seven months.
