Long Time Broadcaster/School Board Trustee Dies

A former Fort Frances broadcaster and long-time school board trustee has died.

Gord McBride was 91.

A brief obit noted he died last week in Thunder Bay hospital.

McBride was employed by CFOB for 40 years, eventually becoming its station manager before his retirement in 1996.

He was also a public school board trustee for 30 years, ending that career in 2006.

For nearly half that time, he served as chair.

He was also an active community member with organizations like the Lions Club, the public library board and the Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral arrangements are still pending.
