Local Sports Report For Wednesday, December 11

Fort Frances Lakers dropped a 5-3 decision in Red Lake last night.

Nakoda Thunderchief, Stone Stelzl and Matthieu Harrold scored for the Lakers who next see action in Thunder Bay Friday.

 

A sweep on the court for the Fort Frances Muskies in Kenora to open their NorWOSSA seasons in boys basketball and girls volleyball.

The senior boys basketball team defeated the Beaver Brae Broncos 54-34.

The juniors won 49-27.

In girls volleyball, the senior team won two-straight while the juniors need three games to defeat the Broncos.

 

Today’s strike by high school teachers in the Rainy River district is causing some disruption to high school sports.

The Muskies boys hockey game scheduled in Red Lake today has been postponed.

A game scheduled for Thursday against St. Thomas Aquinas was also cancelled and will be played on February 12 in Kenora.

The Rainy River Owls court teams also had their games with Ignace today cancelled to another day.

 

At Falls High School, the Broncos girls basketball team defeated Bigfork 47-32.

The girls hockey team was edged 2-1 by North Shore.
