Local Sports Report For Wednesday, August 14

Kevin Metke’s goal in the 82-minute stood as the winner as CJ Contracting blanked Centra Pipelines 1-0 to capture the Borderland Soccer League’s men’s division title.

The two teams played to a scoreless draw in Monday’s opener.

In the women’s championship, the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs shut out Al’s Racquet Stringing 3-0.

Nicole Rogozinski with the eventual winner, Jenny Dick, and Maggie Jean provided the scoring.

 

The Sight and Sound Wolves have advanced to the Eastern final in the Rainy River District Men’s Fastball League playoffs after a 9-5 win over Windey’s Warriors last night.

Aaron Caul slugged a pair of homers for the Wolves who now have a date with the Fort Frances Braves.

In the west, the Sabaskong Lakers and Stratton played to a 1-1 draw before the game was called on account of darkness.

They will try again tomorrow.
