Local Sports Report For Thursday, August 29

Fort Frances Her-ricanes defeated the Renegades 2-1 last night to capture the Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League championship for a fourth straight season.

 

Rainy River Voyageurs women’s volleyball team dropped a set three match to Mesabi Range College in Virginia.

They then picked up their first win of the season later that night by sweeping the University of Wisconsin-Barron County in straight games.

Alberta’s Kora Martin lead the offence with 24 assists and 13 digs.

Hailee Barnard of Fort Frances and Chance Duda of Alberta each had eight kills on defence.

 

Fort Frances Muskies sports teams will get prepared for their new seasons starting next week.

The junior boys volleyball team will have tryouts on the first day of school, next Wednesday at 5 pm.

Both the Muskies boys and girls hockey teams will begin their tryouts on September 9th.
