Local Sports Report For Thursday, August 22

The crowning of a champion in the Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League will have to wait until next week.

The Fort Frances Her-ricanes and the Renegades had to call their game off last night when they ran out of daylight.

At the time, the game was tied 4-4 and in the 10th inning.

They will replay the contest on Monday.

A Renegades win will force a second game.

The championship in the Rainy River District Men’s Fastball League kicks off tonight in Barwick.

It’s a best-of-three affair between the Blue Knights and the regular season champions Fort Frances Braves.

It’s a rematch of the 2017 championship, won then by the Braves who also captured last year’s title.

Game time tonight is 6:30 p.m.

Games 2 and, if necessary game 3, will be played next Tuesday and Thursday.
