Local Sports for Wednesday, October 5

Fort Frances Lakers dropped an 8-4 decision to the Wisconsin Lumberjacks in Spooner.

It is the Lakers’ third straight loss.

Luke Ostrom, Ethan Elgie, Clark Scaddan and Dylan Wedword scored for Fort Frances.

The Lakers are home for a pair of games against the Dryden GM Ice Dogs this Friday and Saturday.

Fort Frances Muskies court teams split games against the visiting Sioux North Warriors.

The Muskies won in junior girls’ basketball 40-16 for their second straight win.

Payton Dolyny led the team with sixteen points.

The Muskies senior team also won their second straight by defeating the Warriors 33-11.

 

International Falls Broncos varsity girls’ volleyball team fell in four games to Lake of the Woods.

Scores were 20-25, 25-27, 25-22 and 22-25.

The grade 8 team lost to the Bears 7-25 and 22-25, while the grade 7 team lost 17-25 ad 14-25 in their contest.

Abbi Hutchinson was 5th in the varsity girls cross country race at an Iron Range Conference meet in Ely.

The Broncos’ varsity and junior varsity runners combined for the event.

The girls’ team would finish eighth overall in the team standings, while the boys placed ninth.

The Broncos junior football team beat Chisholm 24-nothing.

The girls’ swim and dive team finished third overall at a meet in International Falls.

Quinna Ford was first in the 100-yard breaststroke. Kendra Kalstad was third.

Jillian Bilben was third in the 50-yard free and 4th in the 100-yard butterfly.

Sylvia Valenzuela was 6th in the 500-yard free.

The 200-yard medley relay team finished third.

The 200-yard free relay team finished fourth.

The 400-yard relay team was sixth.
