Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team took the first installment of the annual Border battle with the International Falls Broncos Saturday, winning 5-1.

Issy Taylor scored twice for the Muskies with Abbie Kenny, Kathryn Fischer, Jill Calder adding singles.

Emma Erickson had the lone goal for the Broncos.

The Muskies also outscore their opponents 54-8.

 

The Broncos boys hockey team was shut out Friday by Little Falls 4-0.

 

Fort Frances Lakers won their third straight Friday night, beating the visiting Thunder Bay North Stars 5-3.

Ben Hoefler notched the game-winner with just over eight minutes into the third period.

 

Rainy River Voyageurs men’s basketball team split games in tournament play in Ely over the weekend. They lost 81-75 to Itasca on Friday before beating Gogebic 89-68 on Saturday.

The Voyageurs women’s team were double winners in Ely, beating Itasca on Friday 95-55 before scoring a 71-65 victory over Gogebic the next day.
